History

Timely produced its first Prefinished Steel Door Frames in 1971 and hasn’t stopped since.

Timely is a family-owned business with customers in every state, and Canada and Mexico to boot. We are the number one supplier of pre-finished steel door frames in North America, due to our world-class quality and service.

Robert L. “Bob” Day, one of Timely’s co-founders, was the inventor of the light gauge steel door frame concept. Bob was a creative genius and is credited with numerous patents.

Notably, Bob patented a unique design for ammunition containers that eliminated the possibility of “oil canning,” which is the sound made when the sides of an ammunition can are flexed. Without this sound, soldiers were safer, and many lives were saved.

Bob is also credited with designing the tooling and manufacturing process to manufacture the titanium nose cone for the United States’ first satellite, Explorer 1, working in conjunction with JPL in Pasadena, California.

As Timely grew through the years, Bob’s son, Bob Day Jr., joined the Timely team in a technical role to help his father with the business. The innovative ideas and technical expertise Bob Jr. brought to the table helped to take Timely to the next level. Bob Jr. is credited, along with his team, with the many automations we are still using today.

Jesse Day, Bob Jr.’s son, is also key to Timely. He and his father continue to build new automation projects, keeping the innovative spirit from Timely’s inception alive and well; his grandfather who started it all would be very proud today.
